As the temperature rises, we tend to show off more skin. We mainly focus on our legs as we change into skirts, shorts and teeny tiny dresses. However, seen on Fashion Week catwalks from London to New York, Bardot is the new way to show some skin.
The blogger elite of Stockholm has got the memo. They are rocking the off shoulder trend with pants, skirts and as dresses! It is a versatile piece of clothing, perfect for your summer 2016 wardrobe. Wear it with a pair of heels and you’re ready for a night out but match them with bright white sneakers and your outfit of today is all set (for work, school, a lunch date with friends etc.).
Getting your hands on a stylish off shoulder top/dress is easy peasy. Pretty much EVERY store has their version of it. My advice is to play it safe. Go for a simple design in a natural colour and see how it feels. Just because it’s a trend doesn’t mean you have to wear it.
It’s hard to pull off the off shoulder top. Like, what do I wear with it? I have one rule. This rule is valid every time you get dressed. It goes something like this: single-coloured clothing goes with any accessories while patterned clothing goes with basic accessories.
The same goes for two-piece clothing. Take a look at Kenza….
. She’s wearing a girly off shoulder top (singled coloured) with an edgy black and white (multicoloured) skirt. It would probably look great with an all black leather skirt as well but mixing plain pieces with multi-colored designs can never go wrong.
Mixing and matching don’t have to be that hard. Your outfit will look far more put together and stylish if you go for less is more than the other way around.
The off shoulder top/dress draws attention to the upper part of your body. So why not keep it that way but push it a little bit further? Earn some extra style point by glamming up your face!
Swedish makeup artist (self-taught as well!!!) knows how to make them eyes pop! You have a lot of options when it comes to matching your makeup with your outfit. Smokey eyes go with everything so that’s an easy one! When it comes to colours and sparkles you got to be a bit more careful.
If you’re wearing a kind of low-key outfit go crazy. However, if you’re already dolled up maybe you should consider a more natural palette.
Oh, I almost forgot! The off shoulder top/dress doesn’t have to be “all naked”. You’ll get the same effect with a thin strap version. Actually, it’s much more comfortable since you don’t have to worry about it to come slipping down (I’m talking about the top itself AND the bra underneath!). Problem solved!
