I used to be a runner. That was my thing. Then life caught up with me and I realised that with the 110 things on my to-do list, I needed to change my workout routine.

I wanted something psychical demanding with a gentler mental aspect. Picturing a Ben&Jerry can at the top of every hill wasn’t doing it for me any longer.

This is the story of how I found yoga.

I’ll admit it. I fell in love after my first day of 30 Days of Yoga, Yoga With Adriene. Since that day I’ve been practising yoga every other day.

There’s a general misunderstanding that yoga is an all-mental workout form. Well, that is wrong. I’ve never felt this strong in my arms, back and most of all in my belly. Maybe I don’t suffer from an invisible abs syndrome.

For all the non-believers out there here is a list of all the perks of practising yoga. I’m sure you’ll discover other more personal benefits with this kind of work out!

Can Be Done Anytime:

Yoga can be done at any time of the day! I just search the web (Youtube) and pick out a session that speaks to my mood and body that particular day.

No Time Limit:

There is no time limit. Let’s say you only have 15 minutes to spare, chose a shorter yoga session for that day! There are plenty of options based on how much time you’ve got.

Mental Benefits:

The mental benefits are equal the psychical ones. Working out should be rewarding towards both mind and body!

Just Need a Mat:

Say goodbye to stressful workouts! You will look forward to jump on the mat and get started. It economical and comfortable. All you need is a yoga mat and a comfortable outfit. You don’t even have to move outside your house!

The list goes on and on. Hopefully you’ll be able to ad things to this list!

Regarding workout wear I would recommend you to go for a broader sports bra and any pair of tights. A shirt is somewhat unnecessary since a) it will fall don’t on your face and that’s so annoying and b) you will sweat and get very hot so the less you wear the more comfortable you’ll feel!

So, if you’re feeling sick of running or if you’re tired from running back and forth from the gym, stop, take a moment and ask yourself what you would like to do for a work out. Maybe you need some time to think about why you even put yourself through this. Are your intentions good? Cause they should be! You should be working out to feel happier and healthier in the non I-only-want-to-get-it-over-with-and-look-good kind of way! Get on your mat at reconnect to good indentions. Because you are worth it!

P.s. A lot of gyms offer yoga as a class/group training options.
